Good news: most conservatories don\u2019t need planning permission

Under Permitted Development rights, you can build a conservatory without planning permission if it meets certain conditions.

\u2022 No more than 50% of garden area covered by extensions
\u2022 Single storey only
\u2022 Maximum height 4m (3m if within 2m of boundary)
\u2022 Does not extend beyond the rear wall by more than 3m (semi/terrace) or 4m (detached)
\u2022 Not in front of the house
\u2022 Materials similar to existing house
